Over a century ago, the mountain slopes of the northern provinces of Thailand have been occupied by a variety of tribal people who have converged on this area from the north, northeast, west and northwest, and now eke out a precarious livelihood there. These tribal people are : KAREN, HMONG, LAHU, LISU, MIEN and AKHA. They are resplendent in their full regalia of silver beads, bangles, earrings, pendants and rings. They feel happy and secure when they are loaded down with these ornaments. Moreover, this represents the wealth of the family; adds to their status and attracts opposite gender.
